A slim compact digital camera, but with plenty of control and at a decent price?
My World in a Bubble

I currently own a Canon A620 powershot, which I like, but it's attractive chunky for taking with me on nights out etc. I'm looking for something very slim and pocket-sized, but it must have plenty of vade-mecum controls...for example, as well as the pre-set shooting modes, i'd like the option to manually change the ISO mise en scene, shutter speed, aperture, that sort of thing. I'm no camera expert, so thought i'd ask here as contrasted with of trying to trawl through hundreds of online reviews that are often written in pretty technical language.

I've heard that there are some ok Casio cameras that might fit the bill (the Exilim selection?)

I'm in the UK, and am looking for something under £100 ideally. Given the current credit crunch, i'm stable there must be some bargains out there?

Advice on a new camera?
(Untitled)

I solely broke my Casio Exilim EX-Z60. Anyone have any suggestions for cameras or any that you personally like? I'm looking to continue along the compact route, however I was kind of eying a Canon Powershot A590 which is a little bigger. Any suggestions??

The Canon A590IS is a tremendous Digital Camera.

It offers a 4x optical zoom, while most compact cameras only offer a 3x zoom. The added zoom will get you a illiberal closer when you're at sporting events, concerts, etc...

The A590 also sports Image Stabilization which is glaring for taking pictures in Low Light or objects that are far away. Image Stabilization reduces camera shake, which helps keep your pictures comfortably and sharp.

Canon cameras are known for their great color, sharpness and ease of use.

Best of all the Canon A590IS can be found on Amazon for around $100: http://www.amazon.com/gp/consequence/B0011ZCDKS/?tag=amazon-digital-cameras-20

Good luck deciding!

Best Regards,
Dusty

what is UHQ

they always shake

will a tripod prepare a big difference?

waaaaaaaaa

tips please....

im trying stock photography..

You surely need to read your manual, you'll be amazed how much you'll learn.
Read it, then practice, then rehearse that process several times. Trust me, it helps!

And yes...... a tripod is a MUST, it makes the difference between a great photo and one you desideratum to delete before your eyes hurt.
Make sure to use the self timer, as well, to further reduce camera shake.

Now go study up about UHQ! Once you know what that means, read this bit:

You should never EVER set your camera to anything less than best quality (i.e. lowest compression rate) and biggest assay (highest resolution).

The reasons for that include:

1) If you have a good, large photo, you can crop it more later on without losing too much detail if you definitely have to.
2) If you happen to take the best photo you ever took, you'll be able to print it at a large size. If you lowered assay and quality, you'd be kicking yourself.
3) If you decide later you really don't want to keep a big file, it is very calm to down-size it in post processing - but you can't go the other way, you can't invent pixels that weren't there in the first stead.
4) Memory cards are cheap, so are bigger hard drives. There is NO reason to do anything less than the best.

Best under 250 bucks digital camera?
New Camera

I dearth to buy my sister, who is about to enter university, a compact, easy-to-use, under 250 bucks digital camera. A camera which comes with a pretty proper image quality and build, im thinking of brands like kodak, canon, casio, and panasonic, any ideas? thanks =D
One more feeling, it needs to be compact, lightweight, SD card capable and either rechargeable AA battery or lithium type battery, bigger LCD separate out is a plus, thx guys =D
after sometimes, i think i need it to be as low as under 200 bucks, around 150 is great, thx

All of the prime brands are good. Choose a brand that appeals to you. Then you have to think about getting a spare battery, what immensity memory card, if you want an extended warranty, how much you can afford, what size zoom, if you want guide controls, the size of the camera, finding a reliable place to purchase it, and the list goes on and on and on.......

The first thing to get is that almost any digital camera will take good pictures. If more people would read the manual more than once, they would be able to take better pictures. For the most part, the person assumes it is the camera when it could be them not knowing exactly what to do. Just give yourself more photographic knowledge by doing more reading on the internet.

I definitely believe buying a camera is an individual choice.
The person needs to read alot of reviews on cameras so they can umpire fix on the features that they really want and need.
Go to the store and hold them so you can see if they feel comfortable in your hands. If plausible, take some pictures in the store to check the quality of the pictures.
I can only give a suggestion of what to look for in a new digital camera.

I'm looking for a good beginner digital SLR camera, please help me out!?
EX-Z1200

I'm not so much new at photography, but i have never hardened a digital slr. I have only used a few different compact point-and-shoot digital cameras (such as a couple canons and a casio). I young lady taking pictures of people, and also different scenery's such as landscapes of mountains, beaches, etc, also pictures of spiffy tidy up looking buildings and such when i travel and close ups of nature such as flowers. I'm looking to buy a DSLR, my price collection is pretty tight, looking for something around $500. I was looking at the Nikon D40 & D60, i have heard they are spectacular cameras, and also ive heard canon dlsr's are great too.. the only thing is they are a bit pricey, so I was also checking out the Sony A200 & Sony A300k. I can't in point of fact decide if buying a Nikon would be worth it, and if I should just go with a Sony, they are much cheaper. What are the differences between Nikon and Sony and what would be more importance it?

Please help!!

There is more bang for the buck if you go for the Nikon D40 with 18-55 mm and 55-200 mm VR for $50 more than your budget.

The distribute about the Sony's is this ... while they do make great cameras, the system is very small when compared to Nikon (since 1959) and Canon EOS (since 1988). Sony bought Minolta in 2006, so while they are the unqualified leaders in commercial video cameras, they are the newbies on the block in the still industry.

If you even think you may go pro or semi-pro, Nikon is as a matter of fact the choice at this time if you leave Canon out of the picture.

Links so you can do your research and figure out which is the best camera for you.

Your are buying into a camera system. In a few years you will be replacing the camera association, but the lenses will last you for decades.

Which Camera Should I Buy?
me again...

I'm stuck between two choices

1. Nikon Coolpix S210 http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Effect/Digital-Camera/26103/COOLPIX-S210.html

2. Casio Exilim Ex-Z85 http://exilim.casio.com/browse_cameras/exilim_zoom/EX-Z85/

Which one do you guys remember is better? I just want a compact camera with good quality shots and video.
I'm on a $139 Apogee budget!!
Oops, I Meant a $130 Budget

there are some important criteria to consider when choosing a digital camera
1. It must have a viewfinder or you will not be able to use it outside in the sun. A viewfinder is the peep burrow you look through.
2 It should have its own battery to charge up, rechargeable torch batteries are useless, don't even consider it.
3, It must have a good trait glass lens to get crisp bright pictures. The best quality lens are Cannon, Nikon, then Sony. Other brands at own danger.
4. Don't worry about mega pixels. A 3,2 mega pixel camera can be far superior than an a cheap 8 mega pixel. The more pixels the more computer power is required to rig the files.

What camera is the best out of these four?

what compact camera to pick..please help..?? By Black Friday sales!!?
Casio Exilim EX-V7

Im deciding between Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS or the Casio Exilim EX-Z80GN 8.1....which one do you suppose is the best...and which one os more durable if dropped, etc. I woudnt want the screen breaking or anything like that.. Expropriate me decide!!???...want to go by black friday is over!!

I would say the Canon Powershot. Its built much sturdier and can laso take clever pics, not to mention it's a litttle much popular than the Casio one.

does anyone have any idea what...?

so does anyone know the name of it?

Chances are that the "Staggering PICTURES" have little to do with the actual camera. The person behind the camera usually makes the much bigger difference.

The Best Digital Camera?
Casio EX-V7 sample photo

My Casio reasonable recently broke. We sent it to Casio, but they said that since there was a lens error, the warranty didn't count, and we have to pay $135 to get it stable. Which we aren't going to do. My mom's going to try and get them to fix it for free, but I don't think that's going to happen.

So my question is: What is the best compact digital camera? I undeniably like the Nikon Coolpix S210 (in blue, $180). Or is the Canon Powershot SD1100 wholesome (pink, $199)? That's nice, too. That's the type of camera I'm looking for, and no higher price. Thanks in advance☮

HELP! Best Camera between $100 - $200? Thanks in advance!?

The most well-connected to me are:

FAST! I'm sick of having stupid slow cameras where I have to wait seconds for it to start up and take that first pic.
Solidly flash recycle time
Fast fps
Low shutter lag
Ultra Compact
7 or 8 MP+

I've been looking at the following:
Canon SD-1100
Canon SD-1000
Canon SD-750
Casio Exilim EX-S770
Samsung L200
Sony Cybershot DSC-T20p
Sony Cybershot DSC-W130

I at most can't decide! Agh! I want to buy one today! Can you guys help me? Thanks in advance!

Which of these three digital cameras is better?

I'm studying near in Florence, and I want something that's small and compact, affordable, but still a pretty good camera. I'm by no means a professional, I just in need of my pictures to come out looking half-way decent. Thanks!!!

This Casio one is a little more expensive: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00399883000P?vName=Computers+%26+Electronics&cName=Cameras+%26+Camcorders&sName=Digital+Cameras+%26+Bundles

This Canon Powershot one is a teensy-weensy cheaper:
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00353439000P

This GE one has 10.1 megapixels...but doesn't look like it has too many bosom features: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00352803000P?mv=rr

Megapixels petty nothing if the sensor isn't behind decent glass. I'd take the Canon over any of em.

Samsung HZ10w

Samsung is attacking the bringing off compact market with the introduction of the Samsung HZ10w. Handsome and unassuming, the Samsung HZ10w handled like an average compact and felt smaller than the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 in our hands. Here at CES, we were impressed with the HZ10w's 24mm inappropriate-angle lens, allowing us to frame more booth babes into our shots without having to back up significantly. Samsung also went with new lenses this year, and the HZ10w struts with Schneider optics. Also nobody was the Samsung HZ10w's 10x optical zoom, which is a triumph, given the camera's compact size.

The Samsung HZ10w shoots 720P 30fps video utilizing H.264 compression, which are specs that assure excelled video quality compared to Motion-JPEG. In back, the Samsung HZ10w has a 2.7" LCD, but we brook that Samsung could have easily fit a 3-incher on the back. Nearly one third of the back is engulfed by a circular directional pad and three buttons. In other information, we like the shutter button zoom toggle, advanced manual control and Optical Allusion Stabilization. Overall, we liked what we saw, but it wasn't enough to dissuade us from the venerable Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 . Bounty: $300. Release: January 2009.

Casio EX-FC100 digital camera - First Look review - photographypress.co.uk

19 January 2009 - When Casio launched its EX-F1 and EX-FH20 in 2008, the mob went wild. The EX-F1's capability of being able to capture shots at up to 60 frames per following promised to change the way we take photographs. Then we saw the size. Fast shooting was going to have to be for those who didn't recall carrying some weight.

A year on Casio has launched a compact camera version: the EX-FC100. So will it be any good? We managed to get a hands-on with the new camera at this year's CES in Las Vegas.

On the outside the EX-FC100 looks the same as any other compact camera from Casio. It sports a 2.7-inch screen, a 5x zoom and 9-megapixel result sensor.

There are slightly more buttons than you would perhaps expect to find on a compact camera, but on the whole the layout is fairly standard. There are buttons for working your way through the menu system, buttons for playing back images or video and a toggle wheel for selecting video or still dead ringer capture.

On the top above the screen is a button simply labelled "Slow" and this rather cleverly allows you to dilatory down the action as it appears on the screen so you can see what's happening real time but slower.

The example Casio gave us was one where you are about to take a photograph of someone blowing out some candles on a birthday cake. You know you are about to take the picture so you "Slow" down the function, Matrix style, and then when they eventually do appear on the screen you can grab the picture at the right weight as if
